Junior Hunt Clinic at Rest & Be Thankful Farm

August 7, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Learn the ins and outs of fox hunting with the Wentworth Hunt Club! The clinic is a super way to introduce your horse to being ridden in a group situation simulating the hunt as well as to our hounds. All participants will receive a complimentary voucher good for one capping to put it all into practice!

There will be a short lecture covering safety and etiquette after which riders can go out and learn to ride in groups and common field situations experienced during the hunt. All jumping is optional. Boots and hard hats are required! Any tack style and dress is appropriate for this introductory clinic. Space is limited so be sure and register early.

Adults and juniors alike can register now, but preference will be given to active USPC members and riders under 21.

Tentative Schedule
9:30 Meet at shed at the top of the hill for introductions and pre-ride lecture
10:00 Break to tack up, mount and gather with field masters in sand ring
10:30 Riding Maneuvers
11:00 Riding with Hounds
12:00 Tea (Lunch), Post-Ride Lecture and Q&A

Trailer parking

Please park your trailers in the field nearest to Walker Rd.  When you turn left onto Old North Berwick Rd, GO SLOW, and keep your eyes peeled for the Wentworth Hunt sign. It is the left immediately after the white cape with garage, BEFORE you reach the fencing and the main farm driveway.

Releases

There are two, one for Wentworth (click here) and one for RABT (click here). Please print/sign and have with you in the morning to help things run smoothly. Please also have a copy of your Coggins available.

Food

There will be coffee available in the morning on site, and water for humans and horses all day. Plan to bring a lunch and chair for the post-ride talk. There are some good places to stop for lunch/breakfast right off the Biddeford and Kennebunk exits (Cummings Market in Kennebunk is probably the closest, most convenient place to get a sandwich).

Fees

This clinic is free, which is awesome! Dog food, however, isn’t. :o)  Wentworth staff will happily accept any donations (cash or check) to go toward the care and keeping of the wonderful hounds you will be meeting on the 7th!
